This page describes how the service works today. It is pending review before public launch.

Players

We store the display name and team name you enter, your team's bluffs and votes, and scores for the game you join.
Your phone keeps a random game credential in its browser storage so you can rejoin after a disconnect. It stops working when the game ends or expires (after 12 hours).
We don't ask for your email, phone number or location, and we don't use advertising or third-party tracking.
To stop abuse, join and answer attempts are rate-limited using a one-way hash of your network address.

Host accounts store a name, email address and a salted password hash, plus a sign-in cookie.
Question packs, uploaded images, session history and host actions (such as rejecting a bluff or changing a score) are stored to run games and resolve disputes.

Bar Bluff runs on Cloudflare's platform. Game data is stored in Cloudflare D1 and uploaded images in Cloudflare R2.
